How this works
- Add your file. Drop a CSV onto the page, or pick one.
- Pick the columns and the separator. In the order they should appear.
- Combine them. Check the preview, then download.
What it cannot do
- Combining is one direction: a combined column cannot be split back exactly if the values themselves contained the separator.
Questions
- What goes between the values?
- Whatever you type: a space, a comma and a space, a dash, or nothing. Blank values are skipped so you never get a stray separator.
- Are the original columns kept?
- Your choice. Keep them and the new column is added at the end; drop them and the new column takes the place of the first one.
- Does it change the values it combines?
- The combined column is new text — the values joined with the separator you chose — and, unless you keep them, the columns it came from are taken away. Every other cell is carried through as the exact text in your file, leading zeros, long numbers and dates included, and the joined values are the originals side by side, never retyped.
- Can I combine more than two columns?
- Yes — pick as many as you need, in the order you want them to appear.
- Is my file uploaded anywhere?
- No. When you combine two CSV columns into one here, the work happens inside this page and the browser is told to block outbound connections, so there is no upload to intercept. Watch the Network tab of your developer tools while you combine two CSV columns into one: the only requests are for this site’s own code, and none carries your file.
Your file is processed in this page and never uploaded — the privacy page shows how to confirm that yourself.
