Result
Add a CSV file. The download is a Markdown table, aligned and escaped.
How this works
- Add your CSV. Drop the file onto the page.
- Check the preview. The grid shows exactly what the table will hold.
- Download. Save the .md file, or paste from it.
What it cannot do
- Markdown has no way to mark a value as missing rather than blank, so both come out blank.
- A table of a hundred thousand rows is not a document anyone reads; above that the page refuses and points at CSV.
- GitHub-flavoured pipe tables only — grid tables and other dialects are not written.
Questions
- Will the table be readable before it renders?
- Yes — columns are padded to align, because a Markdown table nobody can read unrendered is just a worse CSV.
- What happens to pipes and line breaks inside values?
- A pipe is escaped (\|) and a line break becomes <br>, so a multi-line address survives instead of breaking the table.
- Will my values be changed?
- Nothing is retyped. Every value is carried through as text: 00412 keeps its zeros, 1.10 keeps its trailing zero, and a sixteen-digit number never becomes 1.23E+15.
- How big a table is sensible in Markdown?
- A few hundred rows reads fine; past a hundred thousand the page refuses and points at CSV, because nobody scrolls a table that long in prose.
- Is my file uploaded anywhere?
- No. The conversion runs inside this page: when you convert CSV to a Markdown table here, the browser is told to block outbound connections, so nothing can be sent to another server. Keep the Network tab of your developer tools open while you convert CSV to a Markdown table: every request in it goes to this site, and none carries your file.
Your file is processed in this page and never uploaded — the privacy page shows how to confirm that yourself.
